Care Guide

The best you can do to make your product last is to treat them with care. We’ve put together a guide on how to easily take care of your shoes and extend their lifespan for each of the different materials.

Leather Shoes

Soft leather can last long if kept from being dehydrated. Clean the dry shoe with a soft brush and use foam cleaner to remove dirt. Apply shoe cream which provides a gentle nourishment and to restore the colour. Leave to dry and then polish the surface with a brush. Use wax to provide an even stronger protection against water but note that lighter colors may become a tone darker. If you wish you can then finish off with a water based protector.

If you buy one of our metallic shoes only use a damp cloth without any products on – protection spray or polishing wax can cause irreversible damage to the shoe.

Suede Shoes

Suede is sensitive to water and attracts dirt easily, therefore it is important to treat your suede leather regularly.

Clean with a suede brush for suede leather or with a soft brush for nubuck leather and use foam cleaner to remove dirt. Finish off with water based protector. Leave to dry 24 hours to restore.

For hard-to-tackle stains such as watermarks, oil and grease, a suede eraser can be an effective spot-cleaning tool. Simply rub the eraser on the stain with only a moderate amount of pressure.

Velvet Shoes

Regularly brush your velvet shoes to keep fibers fresh and vibrant, using a soft or specially designed velvet brush. Gently brush in one direction to remove dust and dirt, avoiding scrubbing to protect the delicate pile and maintain the original appeal.

Velvet is sensitive to water – protect the shoes from moisture and air-dry if damp. Avoid using a hairdryer or exposing to direct sunlight. Use a velvet protector spray every few months for coverage.

Handle velvet shoes gently to avoid marks or distortion. If flattened, hold over kettle steam before brushing to realign fibers and maintain their luxurious feel.

Patent Shoes

Patent leather is best cleaned with a damp microfibre cloth.

Care must be taken with lightly coloured patent leather, as the leather slightly absorbs colour pigments and can then no longer be cleaned.

Due to the special coating of patent leather, if shoes are stored incorrectly, the surfaces may stick together. This requires intuition. The surfaces can be separated using special leather cleaning products and also benzine. Oils and greases must never be used, as these penetrate between the film and the surface of the leather and any blotches that form are virtually impossible to remove.

The glossy upper surface can be maintained by polishing the leather with a soft cloth.
